Are You Prepared?

Recent events such as Columbine, September 11th, Virginia Tech and school plans being discovered on the laptop computers in Iraq have changed the way we as a society need to look at securing our schools, responding to emergency situations and providing the best possible protection to the children of our communities. School administrators, parents and first responders now realize that tragedy can strike any school at any given time, regardless of its location. Taking steps to prevent and to better respond in emergency situations is in our opinion the duty of every school board, administrator, parent and citizen.

While schools have traditionally been and remain today one of the safest places for our children, we can never afford to become complacent where the safety of our children is concerned. There is far too much risk.


	System Example: In the event of an emergency, a pull station can be activated which automatically sounds an alarm at the dispatch center and begins streaming live video from the school cameras to the police station. Depending on the nature of the situation, police will know where the crime is occurring and assess the danger. Police can then determine the correct tactical approach. In the event of fire/natural disaster, the Police or Fire Department can assess where there is smoke and whether students/faculty are trapped, allowing authorities to respond to the appropriate area of the school.
